The Negative Consequences Of Cerebral Palsy

The Negative Consequences Of Cerebral Palsy

One main result of birth injury is when the child has cerebral palsy. This can come from negligence in many different forms, such as a caesarian section not being performed when it should have been.

Birth is a beautiful moment. Parents regularly describe it as the best day of their lives, and that’s true in every case. Yet, birth injury is something that occurs, and it really shouldn’t. We have an inherent trust in our doctors to provide a healthy delivery, and when they don’t, you deserve to fight for the compensation your family deserves. One main result of birth injury is when the child has cerebral palsy. This can come from negligence in many different forms, such as a caesarian section not being performed when it should have been. Cerebral palsy can impact a variety of functions, and it’s important to know these consequences.

Mobility

With cerebral palsy, the motor functions of the child are severely affected. One of the more prominent effects of the condition is the mobility of the child. Many with cerebral palsy are simply unable to walk. The muscles do not develop like they’re supposed to, leading to overall impairment, and a lack of coordination.

Communication

Given that the muscles don’t develop the way they should, it also impacts the person’s speech. The muscles around the mouth struggle to work in unison, and it hinders their speech patterns. This lack of coordination also changes breathing patterns, which is another roadblock for those trying to communicate with cerebral palsy. To go on top of communication, those with this condition generally have difficulty learning, or a disability of some sort. The condition makes it difficult for kids to stay focused and gain literacy, and it’s typically tied to the amount of pain they experience.

Behavior

Behavioral issues are common in kids with cerebral palsy, and it’s a culmination of all the other issues that are prominent. They could be easily irritable, quickly engaged in conflict, or even antisocial. These kids also have the potential to suffer from impaired vision, as again, the development of muscles and functions become hindered.
